80% Rectangular Shaped Solar Screens using 5/16" x 3/4" Framing : Rectangular shaped solar screens are solar screens with four 90 degree angled corners, which include shapes like square and rectangular. This solar screen is made out of the 80% fabric, we recommend the 80% fabric for all windows that get 4 hours or less of sun. We recommend the 90% fabric for windows that get 4 hours or more of sun, generally those windows that face the West. This screen is made out of the 5/16" x 3/4" wide framing. We do not recommend building large solar screens out of this framing. This size of framing is good for smaller sized screens. If you are needing a larger sized screen, say anything larger than 32"x50", for strength we recommend using our Rectangular Shaped 80% Fabric Assembled Solar Screen 5/16" X 1" Frame.

HARDWARE:
(4) 3/4" Self Tapping Screws - Each Full Arch Shaped Solar Screen comes with (4) 3/4" Self Tapping Screws for a direct screw on installation.
(2) 3/4" Screws & (2) Flush Clips with Leaf Springs - For windows that have a track (channel) at the top and bottom and you do not want to direct screw the screen, you will want to use this hardware option.
(2) 3/4" and (4) 1" Self Tapping Screws w/ (4) 5/16" Metal turn Clips - If you have a metal window that does not have a track (channel) at the top and bottom and you do not want to direct screw the screen with the provided (4) 3/4" Self Tapping Screws, you can choose to use this hardware option.

SUPPORT BAR: Support Bars are used to provide strength for the screen. If the screen is not going to be direct screwed, you will want to use a support bar to keep the screen from bowing in. When you direct screw a screen you can always pull the screen tight, but if a screen is going to be held by clips or sit into tracks at the top or bottom of the window, you will want to use a support bar so the fabric stays tight and does not get wavy. A support bar is generally measured, so that when used it is concealed behind/over the break in the window. When installing a solar screen, you install the screen with the support bar between the fabric and your window. Installed properly, you will not be able to see the support bar from either the outside or inside of the window. Watch this video to clearly understand how to measure for a Horizontal and Vertical Support bar.

HOW TO MEASURE & INSTALL VIDEOS

How to Measure & Install Rectangular Solar Screens for Opening Windows with Tracks to use Leaf Springs: This video Explains how to measure and install solar screens for windows that accommodate full sized screens which open up and down. Windows that have a track (channel) built into the window at the top and bottom of the window that make it possible to hold a full sized solar screen. A full size solar screen is one that fits over the entire window that is held in place by these tracks using leaf springs at the top of the screen to provide tension to help hold the screen in place. This video provides installation assistance as well as measuring assistance for these type of windows.
Hardware : (2) 3/4" Self Tapping Screws, (2) Flush Clips, Leaf Springs on the Width Side
Support Bar : Horizontal Bar (you will always want to use a Horizontal Bar for leaf spring solar screens, to give the screen strength, so the fabric stays tight)

How to Measure & Install Rectangular Solar Screens for Swing Doors: This video explains how we measure and install solar window screens for doors that swing (not Sliding Doors). Solar screens for swing doors just basically screw to the door, or as shown with this video, screw to the plastic molding that goes around the glass. There is no hardware or support bar needed for solar screens like this.
Hardware : (4) 3/4" Self Tapping Screws
Support Bar :
Not needed.

How to Measure & Install Rectangular Solar Screens for Vinyl Windows : This video will show you how we measure and install direct screw on solar screens on to vinyl windows. You can not use the metal turn clips for vinyl windows, as you can not torque down the metal turn clips tight enough so that over time they will not come loose. So the solar screens do not come off, and so the solar screens can be removed and put back on, we direct screw using the included (4) 3/4" long self-tapping screws all our solar screens on to vinyl windows.
Hardware : (4) 3/4" Self Tapping Screws
Support Bar :
Horizontal Bar or Not Needed (you do not need a support bar for direct screw on screens, however if the window opens and you can conceal the support bar on the break of the window, the for strength we recommend that you use one).

How to Measure & Install Rectangular Solar Screens for Non-Opening Windows : For all non-opening windows you will want to direct screw your solar screens to the window's framing. This video provides installation and measuring tips that can be very important to the understanding of how to measure and install solar screens on to non-opening windows. While it may seem easy and simple to do, please make sure you watch this video so you can learn from our extensive experience.
Hardware : (4) 3/4" Self Tapping Screws
Support Bar :
Not Needed.

How to Measure & Install Rectangular Solar Screens for Opening Windows using Metal Turn Clips : For Metal Framed Windows that open and do not have a track (channel) at the top and bottom to fit spring loaded screens into, you can use metal turn clips to install your screens. This video explains how, when and why you would want to use the metal turn clips.
Hardware : (2) 3/4" and (4) 1" Self Tapping Screws, (4) 5/16" Metal Turn Clips
Support Bar :
Horizontal Bar (we strongly recommend using a horizontal bar when using the metal turn clips, doing so gives the screen strength)
